A little tutorial how to change the background-color of the "Picture Viewer" under Windows7(64Bit)

I have every time the same problem, when I want to look quickly to some pictures on windows, the default viewer is the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Picture_and_Fax_Viewer"class="zem_slink" title="Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" rel="wikipedia" class="extlink">Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (WPFV). This is a fast way to look at all the pictures in a folder without to have to wait until a bigger application has started up.

Windows7(64Bit) Photo Viewer Background-Color changed successfully

But there is set a default background-color (white), what seems to be not changeable. (how sick is Microsoft, do deny users to change this?)

There are the global settings for the default window-color under display settings. But even if you change these settings it’ll have no effect on the Picture Viewer background.

But anyhow there’s an option to do it if you run in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7"class="zem_slink zem_slink" title="Windows 7" rel="wikipedia" class="extlink">Windows7 (64Bit Version).

Go to Start > <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_command"class="zem_slink zem_slink" title="Run command" rel="wikipedia" class="extlink">Run… > type in “regedit” > go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows Photo Viewer > Viewer >

there are already one entry called: “MainWndPos”.

Just add one entry with a rightclick on the blank area, > new > DWORD (32 Bit) Value > change name to: “BackgroundColor” > hit Enter.

Doubleclick on the value you just added. change the value to “ff111111″ if you want a nice almost black background(what I’ve taken), use “ff333333″ for a brighter one, or choose your’s here and replace the letters after the ff with your preferred HEX-color-code. > press OK.

For maybe existing text in the viewer(like if your image is not ready) add also this value:

Just add another entry with a rightclick on the blank area, > new > DWORD (32 Bit) Value > change name to: “TextColor” > hit Enter.

Doubleclick on the value you just added. change the value to “ffffffff” (f*8) for a white font-color if you use a dark background > press OK.

Restart the viewer > you’ll see the result.

Registry Entry to change the Background of the Photo Viewer in Windows 7

the .reg file is here:<a href="http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/music-pictures-video/35707d1257719186-windows-photo-viewer-background-yellow-color-fix-windows-photo-viewer.reg"title="Registry entry to add custom color to the background of the windows7 Picture Viewer" class="external" class="extlink"> viewer.reg
just download and execute(only on Windows7 64Bit)

OK, better choice is defenitely this viewer, free fast and with customizable background-color out of the view-panel via right-click:

It’s time to find new ways how to experience and see our world – if we don’t, the mistakes will go on like in all the previous decades.

We need a new way of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perception"class="zem_slink zem_slink" title="Perception" rel="wikipedia" class="extlink">perception, a new way of thinking about what our reality (our World) might be, what the truth of our existence could be and where the key to all those incredible existing creatures lays.

We’ll never find an answer to all those questions. But we’ll find a way to get an idea what we live on this planet for.

We’ve spent our time on this incredibly nice planet for millions of years. What’s our purpose?

I found a really interesting experiment. Its idea is too simple for not trying it:

The idea is to plug usual <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroencephalography"class="zem_slink" title="Electroencephalography" rel="wikipedia" class="extlink">EEG sensors into a computer so that the brain waves generate a pattern of a usual fractal formula (e.g. Mandelbrot).

This pattern is than directly streamed into a fractal program which serves the live visualisation of the “thoughts”.

If brainwaves and visuals are similar we can really “see” the characteristics of a human <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain"class="zem_slink" title="Brain" rel="wikipedia" class="extlink">brain. Even negative and positive feelings are visualized.

Here you’ll find a summary of this project: <a href="http://globalbrainpaint.com/"title="Globalbrainpaint" class="external" class="extlink">http://globalbrainpaint.com/

<a href="http://leafrs.de/el_chalten/warten/da-kannst-du-warten-bis-du-schwarz-wirst/"title="el_chalten" class="external" class="extlink">http://leafrs.de/el_chalten/warten/da-kannst-du-warten-bis-du-schwarz-wirst/

Hier mein persönlicher Leafrs.de Einladungslink: <a href="http://leafrs.de/signup/kwx9cp"title="Leafrs from designer-WG.de" class="external" class="extlink">http://leafrs.de/signup/kwx9cp

cheers

NASA has developed a new Astrophysics page, here they have claimed some very interesting main-questions about the universes future habit!

They are described as followed:

<a href="http://nasascience.nasa.gov/big-questions/what-are-the-origin-evolution-and-fate-of-the-universe"title="Two of the most profound questions that all cultures, both past and present, have asked are: where did we come from and what is our destiny? Throughout history philosophers, theologians, and scientists have debated these questions. NASA Science seeks to provide quantitative information pertinent to these basic elements of human curiosity by enabling scientists and engineers to construct instruments and make measurements on these topics that were once the purview of thought experiments only." class="extlink"> What are the origin, evolution and fate of the Universe?

Even today, these two elements make up 98% of the visible matter in the Universe. Nevertheless, our world and everything it contains—even life itself—is possible only because of the existence of heavier elements such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, silicon, iron, and many, many others. How long did it take the first generations of stars to seed our Universe with the heavy elements we see on Earth today? When in the history of the Universe was there a sufficient supply of heavy elements to allow the formation of prebiotic molecules and terrestrial-like planets upon which those molecules might combine to form life.
This is how Microsoft sees the near future of inhouse gadgets, it’s a vision of a visual world without barriers, that are seamless integrated in our human livestyle. That means you are connected everytime with everyone no matter what kind of regional or sotial backgrounds are between. With the right network and the advanced communication systems we can still communicate.

Who will make the run, who will give us the opportunity to interact with friends visually and without time and space differences, the time will com: sooner than we believe!

How to setup an background image for more than one monitor... Workaround in Photoshop!

Have you seen two monitors with the same image through both? And want to know how it works?

It’s very common in the advanced user scene to use more than one monitor on one computer,

because of this the most peoples are bored of using different wallpapers on each monitor,
and also using exactly the same view of an image on both monitors…

Therefore it is an cool option to have one seamless image over both monitors.

I tried to find a solution for macs, but it’s yet not supported,
or I doesn’t found a way to do it, except an workaround with photoshop.

First, aquire an image that could mach the pixel size of both monitors, so that you have a sharp result.

Than you lookup in your mac preference-pane under displays, there you can see a different window for each monitor, where the actual resolution setting is described.
Now you have to take these numbers in photoshop, for each monitor an different document;

but I use more the lazy option and make a full-screen screenshot with “Apple-Shift-3″ this results two different images on my dektop with the exact pixel scale, that I can load both in Photoshop, put the big image in the bigger monitor document, there I place it fairly right, take the layer also in the other document(now with the same pixel size after rescale), place it also there, that I can see the missing part, and save both images as .jpg in my home directory, go back to the settings-pane –> desktop&screensaver –> desktop, there are also two different windows per each monitor, I select the previously saved items, and now the show begins, it looks like an seamless background…

Here I shortly made a little screenshot-overview what to do:

But shure, it would be more cool to use an application for that,
but it isn’t that much work…;-)

I hope you have fun with that,

The image, what I used is for download in full resolution (24.9MB !!!), here:
Milky way panorama

And the zoom-in version, for exploring the image in high-res online (unbelievable depth) here:
Gigagalaxy Zoom

but there are alot of more ressources for incredible images:
dualmonitorbackgrounds
Arspublic

or just make your own;-)

How Humans going to own our neighbour planet Mars

I’m deeply surprised how far this thought’s are developed, to own another planet like Mars,
it’s in fact the planet next to us, what makes sense to go there next, after the moon maybe.

On mars it would be required to heaten up the whole athmosphere, because there it is to cold to supply live.

Mars has approximately half the radius of Earth. It is less dense than Earth, having about 15% of Earth’s volume and 11% of the mass. Its surface area is only slightly less than the total area of Earth’s dry land.[5] While Mars is larger and more massive than Mercury, Mercury has a higher density. This results in a slightly stronger gravitational force at Mercury’s surface. Mars is also roughly intermediate in size, mass, and surface gravity between Earth and Earth’s Moon (the Moon is about half the diameter of Mars, whereas Earth is twice; the Earth is about ten times more massive than Mars, and the Moon ten times less massive). The red-orange appearance of the Martian surface is caused by iron(III) oxide, more commonly known as hematite, or rust.[14]

We are also going fast forward with taking pictures from this amazing planet:
HiRISE
credits: HiRISE

So far, the last update from the mars rover from the Jet Propulsion Lab’ (JPL) shows, that there might be an option for the rover on mars, that it could escape from the point it stucks since a long time. that would be nice, because The rover takes stunning real pictures from our next planet, like this one:

However, this mission is called “Free Spirit”
Free Spirit update

And if that isn’t enough, the JPL also have built up a special site to show the martian explorations and technical investigations in a cool way here:
JPL’s Martian site

to be extended—->
